I gotta figure it out cuz i run a daycare and this incident left me and my five six year olds and two 9 months old stranded at the local mall for an hour. any suggestions?

Help! I think my green spotted puffer is sick!?

I have 2 gsp One has a very large appitite, very dark spots, a bright green dot and is very active and healthy. The other one (the sick one) has always been on the timider side and has always had natrually lighter spots. Lately i have noticed the the puffer has had very little white dots on the end of its dorsal fin but it does not look like fin rot. He has been eating fine.Tonight however, I trengwent to turn on the light and i saw that she was just sitting there suctioned against the side of the filter almost has if he did not have enough strnght to swim away. I pushed him off with the net and he swam away but looked very pale and swam slowly on the bottom of the tank. I crushed up a few pwices of freez fried plankton and put them in the tank. After a few minites he began to eat and seemed to get stronger and his color came back and was pretty dark again. He then seemed more hungry than ever and was eating every peice that he could find. But his belly did not look as full as yother puffer. He looked hungry after it was all gone so i put in some seaweed gel because he usually like to take a few nibbles on that. He is now swimming around but i noticed a stringy looking poop hanging from him. I checked the water and everything is good. I am planing to siphon out the tank for the first time tmr ( i only have them for about a month and a half) and i will also feed them blood worms and i will put a crunchy vitamin block to file down their teeth. I have a 10 gallon tank but they are still small and i am planning to eventually get a larger tank. You should take the 10-20% of water out and then get the same amount of water and before you add the new water you should add the dechlorinator and let sit until the water is at room temperature, but when you are ready to pour the water in pour a little bit and then wait ten minutes and add a little bit more and wait ten minutes. Do this till you get all the new water in. I would recommend that instead of cleaning the gravel and the walls get apple snails. For every five gallons of tank you have get one apple snail.

That sounds fine. I fill my tank up to just below the rim that holds the hood and light. I don't think there is a correct answer to this. For the filter cartridge only replace them once they are falling apart. There is no need to replace them every month or whatever the company says. They only do that to make money. During your weekly water changes remove them and get all the gunk out of them and then back in the filter. Use the old water not tap water.

Irrigation pressure regulator?

I would not put them below ground. You should have the pressure regulator installed right after the filter and I would put an elbow in there to leave them above ground or install the head assembly in an irrigation box to leave access to it.Personally I like to leave every thing above ground for easier installation and maintenance. I don't think that the regulator should be leaking any water. Check to see if the leak is coming from the regulator or from around the threads. If it is coming from around the threads you probably have hose threads on one piece and pipe threads on the other. The two are not compatible and you will have to buy a new connection to make sure that the threads on both are the same. (Hose threads appear just a little more coarse.)

Hi, I woke up and turned my tank light on at about 8:40am this morning. I saw an exosekleton aon one side of my 1+ gallon and a dead shrimp at the other. I'm sure. Im guessing she's dead because my platies kinda sleep swim at night and thrash all around the tank when they sleep, and they mustve crashed into my "naked" shrimp, which had no exoskeleton at the time, and my poor shrimp snaped a body part and died. Just a guess. She's way too big for my betta and platies to attack. I have a few fry hiding at the leaves above the tank and I was going to petsmart to buy a net for them to stay in. But I wasnt expecting my shrimp to die. So, I'd have to siphon out or net out my dead shrimp, but my baby fish will loose their hiding places if I maneuver my net around the tank to get the dead shrimp, and my fry will be eaten. So, do I wait until I return from the petstore [about 11am or so] or risk my fry and take out my shrimp now? I have other shrimp and a snail there. And a betta but all my vertebraes ignore shrimp.

So here's what happened. I pull into the gas station this morning. I'm in california and there is no such thing as pump and pay here, everywhere you go you have to pay upfront for the gas. So I go in and I hand the clerk $3.50 in change and say 3.50 on 7, walk out, go to the pump, start pumping the gas and zone out till it stops. I wasn't paying attention at all because when you give them cash the pump automaticaly stops when whatever ammount of money you gave them is used up. Plus it's first thing in the morning, havn't had cofee yet, etc. etc., so I'm not exactly at my most allert, and different stations pump slower or faster so the ammount of time didn't really don on me either...and besides in 10 years or driving and getting gas I've never seen this happen so I'm not exactly of the opinion that you need to pay that much attention when pumping gas, or at least I wasn't untill this happened...So anyway, the pump stops, I go to put it back on the hanger and as I'm screwing my gas cap back on and this guy comes out yelling at me saying "Hey you have to pay for that!" I'm like what???? he points to the pump so I look at the pump thinking what the heck is this guy talking about and it says it pumped $29.96 worth of gas... 0_o So I'm thinkin crap! How the Heck is that even possible??? Then it donned on me, it couldn't have pumped that much unless the clerk entered in the wrong ammount because I only gave him $3.50. So I tell the guy look I don't think I should be held responcible for this because it was your employee's error not mine, It's not like I intended to steal gasoline, quite frankly I didn't even know it was possible to do that. So anyway I'm trying to reason with this guy and tell him look I don't have any other money why do you think I gave you only $3.50 in dimes and nickles? I broke thats why! He tried to tell me it was my fault and I was responcible for it so I asked him how the heck I could make the pump keep going like that if I only gave him $3.50 and the guy then addmitted that HIS employee entered the wrong ammount into the computer. I told him I'm not responcible for the error your clerk made, if you'd like to siphon it out your more than welcome to but other than that I don't know what to tell ya because i don't have any more money and he proceeds to threaten to call the cops on me and writes down my licence plate number! Get them a 10 gallon tank(Because they actually need it) and buy a over tank filter for it, it shouldn't be that expensive. Also, if you really have no time to clean it, just buy a small algae eater, like a small pleco or a Otocinclus. They will keep you're tank fairly clean, and if you get a good filter, it should keep you're water crystal clear.

Here is what happened, i drove on a road that had a maximum speed limit of 60 km/h, i maintained a proper speed that was under 60 km/h and once i seen construction ahead i used my breaks to slow down. The brakes didnt complete the full stop for some reason, i had them to the floor and it was barely slowing down, i do not know why it did that but i ended up using my ebrake and the next thing you know i hit a construction cone and the cone ended up hitting another car. I was so stressed out and i ended up driving home with my e brake because my brakes wouldnt work. about 30 minutes later police showed up at my door saying i hit and ran, i wasnt aware of this until they came and told me because i guess the cone that i hit, hit another car which ended up being an accident ? and then it looked like i ran... So the cops wrote me a ticket for a court date and the person that got hit my the cone is making bull **** up that i was speeding cause my car is a civic that is tuned up. because of this i could be loosing my license for 6 months because im a newly licensed driver and the ticket got written up as careless and imprudent driving. They also mentioned i have to do my inspection for my brakes, and once i do that i gotta get the guy that done it for me to tell the cops what happened and why in order to keep my license. Just bought a pak-brake for my 2001 Dodge 2500 Cummins with an automatic transmission. As I talked about with some guys one said use it as a paper weight because the harmonics of an exhaust brake will destroy the flex plate of a 2001 model automatic. How to make my HIDs work with the low beam switch instead of only w/the high beam as they did once installed?

I just installed my HID kit on my 1995 Dodge Neon with a 9007 socket and a single bulb for both low and high beams. The kit is a LOW BEAM ONLY not a bi-xenon kit and came with the usual equipment(ballasts, bulbs etc), but it was not quite a plug and play kit, because the cable that goes directly to the car's harness came split in two, a red and a black. However, it did have an adapter that fitted directly into the car's harness 9007 socket and all I had to do is place the cables so that they would match red and black with my car's harness although the car's harness also has a black & purple cable which I ignored. Question being is the fact that I turned on my lights but the HIDs would not work. It wasn't until I turned my high beams on that they worked and that's how they've stayed. I want them to turn on as soon as I hit the switch of my low beams. Can you please provide a detailed way around this? I've read about something related to the wiring of the car. I am not an expert on this wiring stuff so if you please can provide a guide on how to do it or a quick fix, I will highly appreciate it! Thanks in advanced!

the throttle body opens up fuel pressure is good, the belt that runs the alternator, compressor and the pulley's broken while the car was running it didn't brake all the way it was a little bit left on the pulley's, but i think some of that belt got onto or into the timing belt and may have caused timing belt to skip/jump some teeth and jump time a bit.

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Sedan with 93,000 miles. When I drive down a steep hill and press on the brakes, the steering wheel shakes and I can hear it,and when I drive fast on the highway the steering shakes but not as much as driving down a hill without pressing the brakes. I called the mechanic and he said it is warped brake rotors. I had my rotors changed in April 2011 and this problem has been happening for over a year. I am scheduled to see the front end mechanic to see if that is the problem and I may just get my rotors replaced or fixed. Your thoughts? The Mechanic said I should get with the last mechanic whom changed my brake rotors, but I will see when I get my cars front end checked and he said it's not an alignment problem, but a brake rotor problem? What is my harlequin rasbora doing?

I have a shoal of 7 harlequin rasboras in my 55 gallon tank with a few other small cyprinids. One of them has split off from the shoal and is hanging vertically, head up, in the water column in the corner of the tank, near the sillicone sealant. Every once and a while it will pull away, and snap back into normal behavior, then after a minute or so return to hanging vertically in the same spot. Sometimes another rasbora chills next to it, but in a normal swimming style. It's the same two, and they seem otherwise healthy. They are active except when in the corner, and both ate when fed. They are each about 1.5in long. I siphon out about 15 gallons of water and replace it every Wednesday. If it helps, I added a clump of java moss, three valisneras, and five gold barbs today, though it was occuring before I added the new items. Is it alright?

I bought a fish from petco(last time i will buy one there) and put it in my 10 gallon tank with other healthy ones. 4 days later, white spots all over the fish. i removed it and put it in a bowl, and added the right amount of ich guard to the bowl. i put ich guard in the tank too, because one fish had 2 or 3 spots on im. i waited 18 hours while raising the temperature, then siphoned out 25% water in the tak and changed water in the bowl. is this a good job? what to do from here? the bowl fish has long starts or white stuff hanging off from him but seems perky and the other fish are perky as well, the problem is the bowl fish wont really eat

This is not meant to be an HOA bashing session as I have heard of some great ones out there. I follow the rules (stupid or not) and try to get along the best I can. I am an owner and recently started attending HOA meetings due to experiencing on-going problems with the renters next door to me. Basically had to handle the situation on my own. Anyway, so far I haven't been impressed with this board. One of the members is a slum lord who is only there to serve his own interests. A few others are fossils and/or afraid to confront real issues. About 2/3 of them don't even live here. Some are just rude. They act like they are so important. What is it with these board members? Are they untouchable? I wonder if some of them have ever had a minute of fun in their whole life. Nissan Maxima 1995 brake pad/caliper problem?

Ok the procedure is to place the hardware and pads into the torque menber that is bolted to the steering knuckle with the rotor on the front hub studs then drop the caliper over the pad torque member rotor and place the 14mm bolts into the caliper pins that were lightly greased inserted in the torque menber. The single piston pushes into the caliper almost flush. You can use a big C clamp or the largest Channel Lock Pliers to squeeze that piston all the way in. (when) pads are in place they are held in with the hardware 2 thin sheet metal spring things top and bottom edges of the torque member to pad.

In a previous tank I had I cleaned the tank and left the fish in there while I was siphoning the gravel and pouring new water in. They always seemed a little upset. Why is my aquarium water cloudy?

Which road bike would you recommend?

i think that they are both REALLY good for a first bike. one thing to consider is that if you are really in this sport because if you are gonna spend that much money, it better be worth it! or you just have to sell it for half price. but i think that the bianchi xenon is better than the wilier escape because its more comfortable for longer rides. but they both pretty much have the same kind of drive train. i would also recommend that you look into CX(cyclocross) bikes, they have a bit more off road ability than road bikes but they still have the drop bars and pretty much the same components, just a thicker fork so you can put a thicker tire on them.

To sum my problem up, my Dad has cracked down on my internet usage. The public computer has parental controls with strict time limits. I have 4 or 5 computers of my own, as I am into computer engineering. The public network in my house does not broadcast and I do not know the passphrase. My dad has also gone out of his way to confiscate any device that could be used to somehow connect to the home network. I have a plan to siphon off some of our internet, though. Our cable modem has a USB port on the backside of it. I know for a fact that it can provide a connection to a computer plugged into it. There is no option of running a long USB cable, nor is there an option of running an ethernet cable for that matter. It's not like USB can reach the distance of 13 meters or so anyway. Is there anyway I can wirelessly transmit the USB output from the router too my bedroom? What other options have I? Negotiations with my Dad are out of the question.

Mini Cooper 2007 handbrake problem?

I recently bought a 2007 cooper and am experiencing a strange problem. if the engine is off and i put down the handbrake, the handbrake bulb goes off. But if the car is on ignition or started, and i put down the handbrake, the bulb remains on. Even whilst im driving and the handbrake is down, the bulb remains on. Does this have something to do with the fact that the brake pads have recently been replaced? i dont know if i had the problem before the pads were changed because i bought the car just after the dealer decided to change the brake pads.

HID Xenon Conversion Kit ?????????

I have a 2006 Volvo S40 that has the none HID xenon projector headlamps. I need them to be brighter because well they suck. I been looking in to doing the HID kits but wanted to know if it would work with my car because of the projection. Single-speed or 7-speed cruiser bike?

I am trying to decide between a single-speed cruiser bike with coaster brakes and a 7-speed cruiser bike with hand brakes. I haven't ridden a bike in about 15 years so figured a cruiser would great for me. I will be mostly using it on bike paths, sidewalks, and side roads, probably never on a busy road. Squeaky brakes problem!?

Why do my brakes always squeak? I replace the front brakes, rotor and ceramic pads lubed them about 10k miles ago, and I replaced the pads on my rear brakes, the rotor where still smooth. What could be the problem? They squeak alot when it's raining or just got done raining.

Also, you could always do simple upgrades to the jetta that most likely won't void the warranty (check first). If you put in a cold air intake, headers, and a good exhaust system, you could boost your car by 20-30hp. Though it'll probably cost around a grand or more. Home Made Filter Question?

this probably won't be used in a fish tank but I just wanted to see if it would work- ok so here we go, i was just thinking that is i made a small box maybe 15cm x 15cm and put it in the corner of the aquarium hanging over the water and put a pipe siphoning water from the tank into the box and the box had holes drilled in the bottom for the water to drain through back into the water. except if the box had filter sponge and rocks in it so the water had to pass through the sponge and filter to get to the drainage holes would it be filtered in the box and then drip back into the tank thereby filtering it. would this work?

What is a good mountain bike, that won't break the bank?

Okay so I want a decent cheap mountain bike.. You know like, one that doesn't cost $400 or more! I had one of those $150 mongooses, but it was AWFUL! First I had a complete front brake lock up! From just lightly pulling on the front brake lever riding down the road. I don't mean like the wheel locked up because I pulled the brake lever. I mean the brakes locked up and would not come undone. I worked on it for awhile, and I got that fixed. Then I went over a very minor bump in the road at a high speed, I didn't even crash or anything like that! But the stock rims got bent out of shape, and I had to take into the shop for a replacement rim. Then, My back brakes stopped working. It wasn't like they had a catastrophic failure like the front brakes did, they just simply wouldn't work. Well I gave up on trying to fix it for awhile, and spent more time trying to figure out how the brake system worked. I got a pretty good understanding of how the brakes work and I successfully fixed them. However they are already losing alot of tension and fast, and I don't even do alot of hardcore braking. I'm beginning to think it needs a new brake like. Then to finally end it all, today I was riding around. I jumped off of a 5 inch ledge... I kid you not, just 5 inches AT MAX. And that 5 inches was enough to somehow whip the rear derailleur into the spokes, and once that happened it was all over. I don't know how it happens, and I'm 100% sure that I did not hit it on the ledge when I jumped, because I hit the ledge perpendicular, making it litterally impossible for the ledge to have it.. The only thing I could think of is that that little jump was enough to whip it into the spokes. Anyways I'm tired of this piece of junk! What is a decent bicycle (specific model or manufacturer) that wont break the bank, or break when it drops 5 inches?

Did I damage my xenon gas halogen bulb during installation?

When installing a xenon gas bulb for my standard halogen headlight, it is important to not touch it causing it to reduce its lifespan. But during the installation, I didn't touch the bulb with my hand but might accidently touch the bulb with the headlamp casing during the installation process. Could I damage my bulb lifespan since there touching any part of our car might contain a little bit of oil, and oil damage the bulb if not clean?

I have a 1990 mazda 626 and im trying to get rid of it. the most i can get is at the scrap metal place and they will pay $323 to crush it. the only thing is they wont take it unless the gas tank has either a hole in it or the gas tank is removed. A big tank will overwhelm them and cause stress. I recommend a bowl a little bigger then the cup you buy them in at pet stores. A little gravel and a small plant is not needed but adds sophisticated decoration. When changing the water, no more then 50% should be taken out. It depends how dirty the water is. It should be changed weekly. Scrub the tank when ever it is visibly dirty because there isn't really specific rules. Betas can be kept with small snails. I have seen in various pet stores that they keep two females together. There diet should consist of basic beta food you find at Petsmart, Petco, etc. They also eat blood worms. It doesn't matter if they are frozen or freeze dried but freeze dried are easier to keep. For daily exercise and stimulation, you should provide them with a small mirror 5 minutes a day. The life time pads have metal in them and ware down the rotors. Never get life time pads. Get the softest pads you can. My wife's car only had 40,000 miles on it and when washing it one day I seen a 1/4 in lip on the out side of the rotor where the pads had wore it down, Cheep steal for rotors and life time pads. Since you have one bulb doing both low beam and high beam. You should get the FX-R combo package.(second link). This projector has a shield to do the high beam as well. Toyota Avalon XLS or Limited?

I am in the market for a used Toyota Avalon XLS or Limited. Here's the thing. It is extremely rare to find a Limited in my price range that peeks at $15,000. There have been a few listed but they were gone in a flash. Now, I am not usually one that is picky about what car I drive, but for some reason I am being picky about this. For instance, the XLS does not have xenon headlights or rain sensing windshield wipers where the Limited does, and that's about the biggest difference but it's keeping me from buying an XLS. Any ideas on whether I should continue waiting for a Limited to show up, or just settle on an XLS?

Chlorine water in goldfish tank?

Today I was trying to siphon out some dirty water from my goldfish tank. However, I realized the tank is too low for gravity to siphon and a bit of the tap water inside the tube (I'm guessing like 5 tbsp) got into the tank. Will this hurt the goldfish inside of the tank?

I have 2 platys, a snail, and some ghost shrimp. I used to have a lot more fish, but realized I fell prey to a common first time fishkeepers mistake. Overstocking! So the chemistry in the tank easily fell out-o-wack and fish suffered. But I've learned and am ready to make the correct move. So I was planning on adding 1 more platy. Because I know they much prefer groups of 3. Could I possibly add 2 more? I want the tank to be PERFECTLY stocked. Not to under. But not close to over stocking or fully stocked. What would work? How To Wire An LED Strip to Automatically Turn On with Ignition?

I have an Audi A4 and I'm already installing an HID Xenon lamp conversion. I grabbed a set of LED strips that are made to slip into the headlight frame around the housing. I've installed before but I did it hooked up to an interior on/off flip switch (I do not want that for this application). I also have done it tapped into the headlight/parking light wire so they both turn on (again, not what I want). I am looking to have them come on when the ignition is turned on like 'daytime running lights' and off vice versa. I dont want any other lights on except those during that time. How would you recommend wiring it? If I reversed the connection on the strip so it grounds when the ignition is on?... I dont know, I dont want to mickey mouse it, Its a 12V strip and I have an in-line 3Amp fuse on each wire. THanks for the help...

You don't have to replace brake fluid ofter if reservoir has a good seal. If you don't have good seal on the cap of the reservoir, the moisture in the air will get into the fluid and cause brakes to be ineffective when braking. The only time you need to change fluid often is when you are racing. When racing at high speed and hit brake hard, the fluid will get hot. When it get hot with moisture in the fluid, the moisture becomes steam. Remember, air can compress and fluid cannot. When steam in the system, during braking, the pedal will travel all the way in because it compresses. If you are not racing, don't worry about it. If you are concerned, use a syringe and suck the oil fluid out in the reservoir (draw half of the fluid out of the reservoir and fill it up and do it a second time). After you do the second time, Open rear bleeder screws and let it drains out until see clear fluid(don't hit the brake paddle- let gravity do it thing- same for bleeding the brakes). Don't let the reservoir go down half way before fill it. Do the same for the front.

Well it is probably that the fish became very stressed due to its age. When you handle fish in changing the water, it is good to be careful. I product that I highly recommend and use is STRESS COAT. You can get this at Petsmart or Petco and it immediately calms your fish down. I use this and in about 15 minutes they swim like normal. Oh, and DO NOT WORRY about your fish dying that much. Most people have had fish die in water changes (myself included...countless times). So just put in stress coat with your normal conditioner and the fish should be fine. It's cheap (like $4) and you only use 1 teaspoon per 10 gal. which is good.

What fish are good for a ten gallon tank?

Get small community fish (i.e. mollies, platys, danios, tetras, etc.). Stay away from goldfish, they are suppose to be in a large tank as they are meant to reach 12" in size. If you had goldfish in the tank originally, scratch it and start fresh. Get all the water out to avoid future ammonia poisoning to community fish. Patience is the most important. It is best to start with one or two community fish, I recommend danios as they are hardy and small, then when the water cycle is complete, about one month after introducing the new fish, you can add a few more. I wouldn't do more than 5 or 6 in the end if you want them to be healthy and live a long time. Good luck.

Brake pads and rotors never stopped squealing.?

Its been a year since I had new brake pads and rotors put on my Envoy, They never stopped squealing since the day they put them on. Took it back to the shop about 4 times and all they could do was quiet them for about a day or two. they are actually quiet for the first few hours of the day and get noisier as the day goes on. Now I absolutly cannot stand it anymore and am taking it to a new shop. What should I have them do?, I dont want to have new pads put on and that not be the problem,I was going to get a free brake inspection from Midas but the guy wanted to hose me the last time I went I dont feel like I can trust him.
