Why dont I get signal on my cell phone anymore?

I've always had signal in my house. Especially in my room. But ever since I upgraded my normal non-high tech LG Xenon to the smart phone HTC Inspire, receptions been cutting out way too much. Could it be the phone? Please help :) thanks.
