Is it dangerous to have your washing machine vented into the house?

i bought a new washer in Jan of 2011 and have nothing but problems, they recently came and put a siphon break on the drain line and it is vented into the house. It makes a terrible sound when it drains. My question is if it is safe to have this vented into my living space?
